East Rutherford, N.J. — Calvin Johnson will start for the Lions Sunday against the New York Jets, but he was a game-time decision due to an ankle injury.
The All-Pro receiver practiced just once in the week leading up to the game due to an ankle injury, but after testing the ailment before the game, the Lions gave Johnson the go-ahead for the 1 p.m. game at MetLife Stadium.
Strong safety James Ihedigbo will also make his Lions debut after missing the first three games with a nerve injury in his neck. Ihedigbo was a full participant in practice all week, and he'll start against the team with which he spent his first three NFL seasons.
Wide receiver Ryan Broyles will also make his debut this season with the Lions needing another pass catcher due to Joseph Fauria's ankle injury.
The Lions' inactive players are Fauria, right tackle LaAdrian Waddle, cornerback Cassius Vaughn, linebacker Travis Lewis, defensive back Don Carey, quarterback Kellen Moore and defensive end Larry Webster.
With Waddle out, Garrett Reynolds will start for the third straight week, but undrafted rookie Cornelius Lucas should see time at right tackle, too.
For the Jets, cornerback Dee Milliner (quad) leads the list of inactives, but wide receiver Eric Decker (hamstring) is active. The other Jets out are wide receiver Jalen Saunders, linebackers Ikemefuna Enemkpali and A.J. Edds, offensive linemen Dakota Dozier and Ben Ijalana and defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis.
