The Lions' No. 1-ranked defense continues to pile up the early season accolades.

The NFL named defensive end Ezekiel Ansah the NFC Defensive Player of Week 6 after his performance in Sunday's 17-3 win over the Minnesota Vikings in which the Lions had eight sacks, their most since Nov. 23,1997.

Ansah, the fifth overall pick in 2013, had five tackles, three for loss, a forced fumble and a career-high 2½ sacks to earn the award for the first time.

Ansah is the second Lions player to earn the award this season after linebacker DeAndre Levy won it in Week 1.

The Lions rank first in the NFL in yards allowed per game (270.7) and points allowed per game (13.7).
