Detroit News predictions: Lions vs. Dolphins

The Detroit News

Rod Beard: This game starts a three-game gauntlet against three of the hottest teams in the league. The Lions have been one of those hot teams and getting Calvin Johnson back is the boost they need to continue their win streak. The defense stands up against at home and the offense has one of its best games of the season. Lions 24-21

Josh Katzenstein: If the Lions start sluggish after having a week off, the Dolphins won't be nearly as forgiving as the Saints and Falcons the past two weeks. But as solid as Miami is on both sides, Detroit should be able to win this crucial game before two tough road matchups as the return of Calvin Johnson finally makes this offense look explosive. Lions 24-23

Bob Wojnowski: Calvin Johnson returns just in time, because Miami's pass defense is one of the best. The Dolphins are 5-3, which is a surprise. The Lions are 6-2, which is a surprise. Surprise, surprise, Johnson and Matthew Stafford get reacquainted quickly. Lions 30-23

John Niyo: Miami's rolling, but Detroit is rested. And the return of Calvin Johnson should help Joe Lombardi open things up a bit offensively. Lions 24-21
