Lions' Bush appears to be a no-go Sunday, report says

Lions running back Reggie Bush has been sidelined with an ankle injury.

Coach Jim Caldwell said last week the Lions would consider shutting down running back Reggie Bush until he's fully healthy, and it appears they will go the cautious route.

According to a report by CBS Sports, Bush will not play Sunday against the New England Patriots. He also missed the Lions' Week 11 loss to the Arizona Cardinals due to a right ankle injury that's plagued him for much of the season.

Bush said Monday he expected to play in New England, and he showed good progress this week. After missing every practicing in advance of the Cardinals game, Bush practiced each day this week, though he was limited.

The Lions labeled Bush as questionable before last week's game, and CBS Sports reported last Saturday that he would be out. Bush is questionable again Sunday, and it looks like the Lions will hold him out again.

If Bush doesn't play, the Lions will continue to lean on Joique Bell as the primary ball carrier, and Theo Riddick will have a role in the passing game, too.

Bush has already missed three games this season due to the ankle injury he first suffered in Week 5.
