Concussion puts Quin's game streak in peril

Allen Park — Allen Park — Lions safety Glover Quin missed practice Wednesday as he tries to recover from the concussion he suffered in Monday’s win over the Saints.

Quin has played in 98 straight games, but he has to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol before Sunday’s game against the 49ers to keep the streak going.

Quin was the only player who missed practice Wednesday, but several players were limited. Wide receiver Calvin Johnson (ankle) was limited, but that’s more participation than he’s had in most of the first practices of the week since suffering his injury on Nov. 1.

Defensive tackles Haloti Ngata (neck) and Caraun Reid (ankle), right tackle Michael Ola (knee), right guard Larry Warford (quad) and linebacker Josh Bynes were also limited.

Defensive end Ziggy Ansah practiced fully Wednesday, a sign that he’s done well to overcome the illness that limited him in Monday’s game.
