The Lions made their first player acquisition under new general manager Bob Quinn Thursday, signing wide receiver Austin Willis to a reserve/future contract.
Willis went undrafted out of Emporia State (Kansas) in 2015 before spending the preseason with the Raiders and Bills.
The Division II product is 5-foot-9, 175 pounds and ran a 4.35-second 40-yard dash at Kansas’ pro day last year. With Oakland and Buffalo, Willis did some work as a returner.
He’s the third wide receiver the Lions have on a reserve/future deal as they also signed Corey Washington and Ryan Spadola, who were both on the practice squad in 2015, a day after the season ended.
