Lions general manager Bob Quinn has hired an official from the New England Patriots front office.

The Lions announced Thursday the hiring of Kevin Anderson as chief of staff and assistant to the GM. Quinn and director of player personnel Kyle O’Brien spoke with Anderson before and during Senior Bowl practice in Mobile, Alabama, on Wednesday.

Anderson had been the director of player development for New England, a position he held the past five years. He effectively replaces Cedric Saunders, the senior vice president of football operations whom Quinn fired last week.

Anderson joined the Patriots personnel department in 2006 and worked in player development for 10 years, helping players with financial education, family assistance and continuing education, according to his bio in New England’s media guide. He also assisted with coordination of minicamp, training camp and team travel. While in college at Indiana, he worked as a football operations assistant for the Hoosiers.

The Lions also hired Ron Miles as a scout this week. Miles spent 2015 as a scouting assistant in New England.
