Kiper’s mock: Lions will grab WR Laquon Treadwell

Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell at one time nearly became a Michigan Wolverine before ultimately deciding to play for Ole Miss.

If ESPN’s Mel Kiper proves to be prophetic, Treadwell will make his way to the Great Lakes State this time.

Kiper, in the new, fourth version of his mock draft (pay site), predicts that the Lions will select Treadwell with the No. 16 pick. In his third mock draft, Kiper had Treadwell going to the Rams one pick earlier.

“The Lions have needs elsewhere, but getting the top wide receiver in the draft class at No. 16 overall is a good value,” Kiper says. “It's absurd to say Treadwell can replace Calvin Johnson -- nobody is doing that -- but he does give them length, strong hands and playmaking ability. They can get a good D-lineman in either of the next two rounds thanks to so much depth at the position.”

Treadwell (6-3, 215) had 82 catches for 1,153 yards and 11 TD for the Rebels last season.

Kiper’s top three are Ole Miss OT Laremy Tunsil (Titans), North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz (Browns) and Florida State DE Jalen Ramsey (Chargers).

Michigan State OT Jack Conklin will go to the Giants at No. 10, Kiper predicts.
