Peter King’s mock: Lions get A’Shawn Robinson

Peter King, the “Monday Morning Quarterback,” has a familiar pick for the Lions in his NFL mock draft – Alabama defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson.

King: “New GM Bob Quinn replenishes the middle of the line a year after the Lions lost Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. What’s really interesting here is the potential availability of (Jack) Conklin, a value pick right about now that some line-needy team (Seattle? Arizona?) could want to jump up and take. Quinn, I believe, having been tutored by the risk-taking New England drafters, would be happy to move down for value.”

King has Conklin, the Michigan State offensive tackle, going lower than most draft analysts predict. King projects Conklin being selected by the Jets with the No. 20 pick. Many NFL analysts put Conklin in or near the top 10.

At the top of the first round, King sees the Rams opting for California quarterback Jared Goff over North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz. King says Wentz will go No. 2 to the Eagles.

In his latest mock draft (3.0) for The Detroit News, Josh Katzenstein has the Lions taking Clemson defensive end Kevin Dodd with the No. 16 pick.
