Allen Park -- If you own a Darius Slay jersey, it's about to be out of date.

Two years after the Detroit Lions cornerback switched uniform numbers, Slay is adding a "Jr." to his nameplate.

"I love my dad, I respect my dad," Slay said. "I knew it would make him happy, so I feel good about it."

Slay said the only thing he needed to do to get the change implemented was show his driver's license and prove he was officially a Jr.

This is Slay's second uniform change. As a rookie, he wore the No. 30, but switched to 23 shortly after the team released Chris Houston. The number is important to Slay because his favorite player before coming into the league was Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden.
