Allen Park – The Detroit Lions have signed offensive lineman Brian Mihalik.

A seventh-round draft pick for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, Mihalik played defensive end for Boston College. As a senior, he appeared in 13 games, recording 31 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

After being released by the Eagles, he was picked up by the Steelers, who converted him to an offensive tackle. The Lions got a long look at Mihalik during the two teams’ joint practices earlier this year.

Mihalik suffered an MCL injury in the exhibition game against the Lions and was released by the Steelers with an injury settlement.

The Lions didn’t have to free a spot for Mihalik because the team holds a roster exemption on recent waiver claim Armonty Bryant until next Monday.
