Allen Park -- The Detroit Lions were down three starters during Wednesday’s practice as center Travis Swanson, defensive end Ziggy Ansah and running back Theo Riddick sat out.

C Travis Swanson - Before his season ended prematurely with a concussion, Swanson was arguably the Lions’ most consistent lineman, showing significant improvement as a run blocker and pass protector. GRADE: B+

Swanson remains in concussion protocol after sitting out last week with a brain injury. He was replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Graham Glasgow.

Riddick is dealing with a wrist injury that sidelined him last weekend against the Bears. The Lions are thin in the backfield with Zach Zenner in concussion protocol and rookie Dwayne Washington working through a nagging ankle injury.

Zenner practiced Wednesday, but was in a red no-contact jersey.

As for Ansah, he exited the game against the Bears in the second quarter with a shoulder injury, but was able to return in the fourth quarter. ESPN reported that the Pro Bowl edge rusher suffered a stinger.
