ESPN: Blindside protection for Stafford is Lions' biggest worry

The Detroit News
The Lions need to address the loss of Taylor Decker during training camp or quarterback Matthew Stafford will face the prospect of more sacks like this one delivered by Seahawks' Michael Bennett.

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will need eyes in the back of his head unless the team quickly addresses the dire situation on its offensive line, says ESPN's Michael Rothstein, who lists each NFL squad's biggest question marks heading into training camp.

The full story is here. The Lions players report for camp Saturday. The first practice is Sunday.

The loss of offensive tackle Taylor Decker to shoulder surgery leaves a gaping hole in blindside protection, Rothstein writes.

Two candidates to fill Decker’s role, Cyrus Kouandjio (non-football injury list) and Corey Robinson (physically unable to perform list) will start camp on the sidelines.

Enter Cornelius Lucas and Greg Robinson. Lucas re-signed with the team as a restricted free agent this offseason while Robinson was acquired after minicamp this spring.

Rothstein writes, “… Detroit has to figure out some sort of solution here or this could be a rough start to the 2017 season.”
