Here is some reaction to notable moments during Sunday’s Detroit Lions vs. Atlanta Falcons game at Ford Field, compiled by Eric Coughlin of The Detroit News.
The Lions probably didn't deserve to win.
They were out-gained by more than 100 yards, and the defense looked vulnerable--a sharp departure from weeks one and two.
Without some help from the Falcons offense in the form of three turnovers, the Lions would have lost by at least two touchdowns.
But there they were, driving down the field, albeit penalty-aided, with their highest-ever paid quarterback giving them a chance with eight seconds left.
Then, what could end up being the most scrutinized play of the Lions season, and a little-known rule about ten-second runoffs within two minutes when there's a review when the ball is in the field of play:

Please report this to Goodell. Everyone in the country knows that was a td.

Sometimes you win on the last play, and sometimes you thought you won, but you didn't, and then a huge cart of food lights on fire in Ford Field, the essence of Lions fandom.

Even the Lions have never lost like this before. Golden Tate comes up inches short on the final play of the game, and the Lions lose, 30-26 to the Atlanta Falcons.

This fourth quarter interception by Darius Slay looks to be the fault of the receiver, but Matt Ryan now has his first three-interception game since 2015. The Lions would have to punt, though.

Matt Prater pulled the Lions within four points in the fourth quarter with this 57-yard boot. Prater has made 14-straight field goals of 50 yards or more, an NFL record.

Taylor Gabriel took a receiver screen to the house in the fourth quarter to put Atlanta up, 30-23.

Yes, Gabriel is incredibly fast. He ran a wind-aided 4.27 forty-yard dash at his college pro day.

Lions cornerback Darius Slay checks in with his seventh career interception to set up a Lions field goal and even the score, 23-23, in the third quarter. The Lions defense may be giving up yardage, but it's making it up with takeaways.

Matthew Stafford connected with Golden Tate in the third quarter to bring the Lions within three, 23-20. At this point, the Lions have a perfect 5/5 red zone trips to touchdown ratio.

At halftime, the Lions were only down by a score, but the stats told a different story. The Falcons led in first downs, 17-7, yards, 223-113, and time of possession, 19:12-10:48. The difference in the game was Quin's pick-six.

Matt Prater drained his 13th-straight field goal of 50 yards or more, an NFL record, to make the score 10-3 Falcons in the second quarter. This one was from 55.

The Falcons had the ball for more than 10 minutes in the first quarter, but getting off to a slow start isn't unfamiliar to the Lions--they were down 10-0 after the first quarter in week one against the Cardinals.
