Lions could be eligible for 'Hard Knocks' in 2019

Allen Park — Matt Patricia avoided directly answering the question, but anyone familiar with the importance the Detroit Lions coach puts on keeping any and all meaningful information knows it would be a nightmare.

What if the Lions were selected by the NFL to be on documentary series “Hard Knocks” in 2019?

Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia didn't say Wednesday if he would approve of his team being featured on the documentary series "Hard Knocks" in 2019.

“Well, fortunately, Cleveland is doing it, so I’m good this year,” Patricia said.

In the program’s 14th season, 11 different franchises have been featured. The show offers unparalleled access and a behind-the-scenes look at training camp, from the perspective of players, coaches and the members of the front office.

The Lions haven’t been eligible for the series in recent years. Teams who have a new coach, have qualified for the postseason the past two seasons, or have appeared on the program in the past 10 years are exempt.

That means Patricia better win. If the Lions miss the playoffs this season, they’d be one of a handful of teams eligible in 2019.
