Recap: Lions fall in Turkey Day clash with Bears, 23-16
The Lions benefited from two touchdowns from LeGarrette Blount but couldn't overcome two fourth-quarter interceptions by Matthew Stafford, as they fall to the Bears on Thanksgiving Day, 23-16.
Chase Daniel managed the game nicely in his first start of the season, as he finished 27-for-37 through the air with 230 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions contained the Bears' rushing attack for most of the game, allowing just 38 yards on the ground.

Theo Riddick catches a 4-yard pass while going out-of-bounds on the next play. Matthew Stafford overshoots Luke Willson over the middle on second down, but the Lions benefit from an illegal hands to the face penalty called on Akeem Hicks. They'll have a new set of downs at their own 45-yard-line.
Blount breaks free from a couple of tacklers and cuts through the middle before flipping over Kyle Fuller at the 28 for a gain of 27.
Blount is stopped for a gain of 1 on first down. Stafford gets it out quickly to Bruce Ellington on second down for a gain of 5 yards. Kenny Golladay catches a pass over the middle and gets upfield to the Chicago 12, giving the Lions a first down.

The play is now under review to see if Blount was down before the Bears pulled out the ball and then recovered it. Officials rule that he was down because forward progress was stopped. Second-and-9 coming up.
Golladay makes a diving effort to haul in a pass over the middle, but can't hold onto it as he goes to the ground. Michael Roberts fails to look back as the pass comes his way, and Fuller picks it off in the end zone easily.

As the Lions' offense takes the field, the Ford Field monitor flashes a graphic noting Matthew Stafford's 20 game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime since 2014.
Then Stafford throws a pick-6 to Eddie Jackson, and the Bears are up a touchdown.

Chase Daniel hits Tarik Cohen for a gain of 9 on first down. Damon Harrison is questionably flagged for roughing the passer, and the Bears will have it at their own 42.
Daniel takes a deep shot to Allen Robinson that falls incomplete. He completes a 7-yard pass to Joshua Bellamy over the middle on second down. Daniel gets it out quickly to Taylor Gabriel on the left side on third down for a gain of 8 that'll give Chicago a first down at the Lions' 43. That's the last play of the third quarter.

Daniel swings it out to Cohen for a 7-yard completion to the left side on first down. Anthony Miller completes a wide-receiver pass to Daniel on second down for a gain of 8 yards. A 14-yard face mask penalty on Romeo Okwara will make it first-and-10 at the Detroit 14.

A Turkey Day tradition unlike any other
The Lions played the Bears on the first Thanksgiving Day game on Nov. 29, 1934, when Detroit was defeated by Chicago, 19-16. The Lions are 8-8 all-time in Thanksgiving showdowns with the Bears and defeated Chicago, 34-17, in the last holiday clash between the two teams in 2014.
Reshuffling the secondary
The Lions announced Tuesday the signing of safety Don Carey, who spent seven seasons (2011-2017) in Detroit before a brief stint in Jacksonville, where he was released in August shortly after being placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Defensive end Eric Lee was was waived to open a roster spot for Carey.
Daniel out of hibernation
Chicago's ninth-year quarterback Chase Daniel will be making his third career start - and first start since 2014 - in place of Mitch Trubisky (shoulder), who carved up the Lions' defense for 355 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-22 Bears win 11 days ago. Daniel has appeared in three games this season, but is yet to attempt a pass.
