Allen Park — The Detroit Lions have reached the midpoint of the season under .500 with playoff hopes already nearly crushed. Following a loss to the Oakland Raiders, the team is sitting at a disappointing 3-4-1.

The disappointment starts with the tie, when the Lions collapsed in the fourth quarter of the season opener, giving up a double-digit lead to a rookie quarterback and coach. They've continued to the midpoint with major defensive woes, namely an inability to stop the run or pressure the passer. And, to this point, the coaching staff has offered little hope of a fix.

With eight games to go, the Lions are sitting well outside the playoff picture and might need to run the table to get into the postseason. Good luck with that.

There have been bright spots, average performances and downright disappointments through the first half. We take a look at all of them in our player-by-player report card.
