Former Michigan State standout and Toledo Walleye goalie Jeff Lerg made ESPN's "SportsCenter" top highlight for his momentous save on Fort Wayne Komets' Garrett Meurs in overtime.

Meurs broke in alone on and tried to shovel a backhand  by the Livonia native, who flung out his left arm while on his back to make the save.

Lerg, who starred at MSU from 2005-09, made 37 saves in a3-2 shootout win for the Red Wings' East Coast Hockey League affiliate. He is 20-5-1-2 with a 2.05 goals-against and .929 save-percentage.
