Former National Team Development Program player and assistant coach John Wroblewski has been named head coach of the Plymouth-based U.S. hockey team.

Wroblewski, 34,  was head coach of the United States Hockey League Youngstown Phantoms this season.  He’ll coach the U.S. National Under-18 Team, which plays teams in the USHL.

Wroblewski, a native of Neenah, Wisc., played with the NTDP during its first two seasons in 1997-99 and later served as an assistant coach from 2007-2010.

Wroblewski played at Notre Dame from 1999-2003 and professionally with the East Coast Hockey League Fresno Falcons.

Americans of the AHL the two seasons (2013-15) prior to joining Youngstown. He was head coach of the ECHL Gwinnett Gladiators for two seasons (2011-13) and worked as an assistant with the American Hockey League Rochester Americans (2013-15) for two seasons.
