Detroit — The Red Wings are likely take part in another NHL outdoor game.

TSN's Bob McKenzie is reporting the league will announce during this All-Star weekend in Columbus outdoor games next season in Colorado and Minnesota.

The game in Colorado would feature the rivalry game between the Red Wings and Avalanche, likely at Coors Field, home of the MLB Colorado Rockies.

The Red Wings have appeared in two other outdoor games – playing the Chicago Blackhawks at Wrigley Field in 2009 and hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs in Ann Arbor in 2014.

This would be one of the Stadium Series games the NHL features — in later January or February — as the Winter Classic on Jan. 1 would have the Boston Bruins play the Montreal Canadiens at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

The Red Wings and Avalanche had one of the best rivalries in all of sports from 1996 through 2002, before the Avalanche's fall in the standings and realignment took a big bite out of rivalry.
