Tatar gets assist from Royal Oak firefighters

Red Wings forward Tomas Tatar is used to giving assists at Joe Louis Arena.

But he was on the receiving end of a big assist from the Royal Oak Fire Department.

According to a Facebook post by the Royal Oak Professional Firefighters Local 431, Tatar locked himself out of his apartment and the firefighters were able to help him get back in.

To show his gratitude, Tatar signed a Red Wings sweater for the firefighters to hang in their station.

This isn’t the first time Tatar has made news at his home. In 2014 he was threatened with eviction by the Main Street Lofts Condominium Association in Royal Oak.

A lawsuit filed in Oakland Circuit Court alleged late-night "loud music, yelling and banging on the floors and walls."
