The Red Wings have re-signed forward Teemu Pulkkinen to a one-year contract for $812,500.

A restricted free agent, Pulkkinen will not be available until at least mid-October – possibly as late as December – because of offseason shoulder surgery. The Wings said his rehab was expected to last 4-6 months.

Limited to only 36 games last season because of the shoulder injury, Pulkkinen, 24, scored six goals and had six assists for 12 points.

Pulkkinen has yet to find a permanent role in the NHL but he’s dominated in the American League with Grand Rapids. Pulkkinen has 65 goals in 117 games with the Griffins.

With Pulkkinen signed (terms of the contract weren’t immediately released), the Red Wings now have two other restricted free agents to sign – goalie Petr Mrazek and defenseman Danny DeKeyser.

Both are expected to re-sign before their arbitration cases later this month.
