The Red Wings’ streak of 25 straight seasons of playoffs appearances is all but history, as they sit at the bottom of the Atlantic Division, and 15th in the Eastern Conference.
But, the Red Wings still lead the the NHL in something, writes Fox Sports: No team in the league can top Detroit’s winged wheel.
The iconic logo leads Fox Sports’ rankings among all 31 NHL teams because, Pete Blackburn writes, it’s both simple, and complex.
Say that again, Pete?
“It’s awesome how complex the Red Wings’ logo seems to be despite the simplicity of the concept and the use of only two colors,” Blackburn writes. “It has become an iconic symbol of Hockeytown and sustained success. It’s not hard to see why this one hasn’t changed in nearly 70 years.”
The Chicago Blackhawks’ logo is second. The Anaheim Ducks’ logo brings up the rear.
