The Detroit Red Wings and the Toledo Walleye of the East Coast Hockey League have extended their affiliate agreement another three years, through the 2020-21 season.

The Red Wings’ other minor-league affiliate is the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Last season, Toledo sold out 28 of its 36 home games at the 7,431-seat Huntington Center and ranked second in the ECHL in average attendance.

The Walleye have won four straight Central Division titles.

Sixteen Toledo players have gone on to the NHL, including eight to the Red Wings: Jared Coreau, Martin Frk, Luke Glendening, Nick Jensen, Brian Lashoff, Tom McCollum, Petr Mrazek and Andrej Nestrasil.
