Detroit Olympic sailor recovers stolen bag of gear

Detroit — A member of the U.S. Olympic sailing team says he’s recovered a bag of expensive gear that was stolen from his truck after he returned to his Detroit home.

Bora Gulari tells WWJ-AM that the sailing gear, worth $10,000, was still in the bag. He’s only missing some sunglasses and a cellphone. It wasn’t immediately clear how the bag was recovered.

Gulari returned Tuesday night from the Rio Olympics and discovered the theft Wednesday when he was preparing to sail again at Bayview Yacht Club. He couldn’t hit the water again without the custom tools and wetsuits.

Gulari attended the University of Michigan and has lived in Detroit for nine years.
