Lansing United blanks Michigan Legends, will meet Grand Rapids in UWS Midwest final

Lansing United's Lexi Pelafas scored in the opening minute as the hosts never looked back en route to a 3-0 victory over Michigan Legends in a United Women's Soccer Midwest Regional Conference semifinal Thursday at East Lansing Soccer Complex.

Lansing advances to Saturday's regional final where it will face defending UWS champion Grand Rapids FC. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at East Lansing Soccer Complex.

Grand Rapids defeated Detroit 4-3 in penalty kicks after the teams battled to a 2-2 draw in the other regional semifinal Thursday.

Riko Sagara (26') and Madison Costner (76') added goals for Lansing United, which outshot Brighton-based Michigan Legends 22-5.

Grand Rapids FC 2, Detroit Sun 2 (Grand Rapids wins 4-3 on PKs): Goalkeeper Maia Perez stopped two spot kicks as Grand Rapids FC prevailed on penalty kicks to defeat the Detroit Sun. Grand Rapids FC's Lizzie Paul scored twice (11', 75') and nearly had a third goal in stoppage time but her shot rang off the crossbar. The Sun's Racheal Deluca leveled it 2-2, slamming home a shot from the right side off a diagonal pass from Annie Walker in the 85th minute. Tori Singstock opened the scoring with a goal in the 10th minute for the Sun.
