Monday's NPSL: Detroit City FC overruns FC Indiana 5-0

Detroit City FC's Danny Deakin scored a goal and assisted on two others in Le Rouge's 5-0 pummeling of FC Indiana on Monday.

Danny Deakin, Will Perkins, Shawn Lawson and Daniel Wright all netted second-half goals for Detroit City FC in a 5-0 rout over 10-man FC Indiana in a National Premier Soccer League match Monday at Legacy Sports Club in Lafayette, Ind.

Moussa Gueye opened the scoring in the seventh minute, heading in goal off a corner from Deakin.

The Sheffield, England midfielder converted a cross from Oscar Gonzalez to make it 2-0 in the 66th minute. Four minutes later, Deakin's deft flick set up Perkins' goal to make it 3-0 DCFC.

FC Indiana (1-2) was reduced to 10 players in the 23rd minute after Anthony Diaz was shown a straight red following a scuffle when DCFC's Abdoulaye Diop was brought down. Diop received a yellow card in the dust-up.

Owen Finnerty picked up his second straight shutout in goal for DCFC (2-1-1).

Le Rouge hosts FC Columbus on Sunday at Keyworth Stadium. Kickoff is 5 p.m.

(At) AFC Ann Arbor 1, Michigan Stars 0: Jared Dass' tally in a goalmouth scramble during the 40th minute held up as the Mighty Oak (3-0-2) remains undefeated in NPSL play. Tatenda Mkuruva received a red card in the 41st minute for the Stars (0-3).
