World soccer superstar Lionel Messi will join FC Barcelona's first team, which is expected to suit up for the LaLiga-Serie A Cup series that stops in Ann Arbor Saturday, Aug. 10, at Michigan Stadium.
The Argentinian international will be accompanied by Barca's marquee players Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Frenkie de Jong when the team arrives in Florida for the first leg of the series against the Italian Serie A giants SSC Napoli on Aug. 7 at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.
Napoli is also expected to debut its first team during the two-game series, event promoter Relevent Sports announced Friday.
Barcelona plays J1 League side Vissel Kobe in the Rakuten Cup (5 a.m. ESPN) Saturday.
