Up to 2 inches of snow, milder temps for Metro Detroit

The first full week of the North American Intentional Auto Show brings hordes of visiting journalists to Detroit and typically dreadful, severe winter weather.

But the forecast for Metro Detroit this week calls for some mild — even decent — temperatures for the week with a high of 42 on Saturday.

First motorists must deal with light snow of up to 2 inches falling across Metro Detroit this morning, leading to snow-covered roads and slick conditions, with temperatures remaining in the teens.

Motorists headed to the auto show or to events celebrating the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday on Monday should exercise caution traveling this morning, according to the National Weather Service.

And according to the auto show website, it advises visitors that “proper attire would include warm outerwear, boots, hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters and jackets.”

Temperatures on Monday will reach a high near 23, with wind of around 9 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation is expected to be around 2 inches.

Tuesday: High of 22, low of 13. Evening snow showers.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, high of 26 low of 18.

Thursday: Sunny with a high of 31 and a low of 22.

Friday: Partly cloudy with a high of 33 and a low of 29.

Saturday: Cloudy with a high of 42 and a low of 39.
