Wearing shorts and a short-sleeved, James Allison of Southfield jogs along Michigan Avenue in Detroit on a warm and sunny afternoon, Tuesday February 27, 2018.

Say it ain't so, Metro Detroit on Thursday could see some snow.

"We could see some snow indeed," said Trent Frey, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in White Lake Township. "We're not quite finished with the snow yet."

It'll be a big change from Tuesday, which has been sunny and mild with a high temperature of about 58 degrees, according to the weather service.

The forecast for Wednesday calls for cloudy skies with a chance of showers. Temperatures will reach a high in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

The Detroit area's average normal high temperature is about 35 degrees. The record for Feb. 27's high temperature is 63 degrees, which was set in 1976, according to the weather service. The coldest Feb. 27 on record is minus 4 set in 2015.

Thursday will be wet and cooler and rain will give way to snow at night. Some accumulation is possible, according to the weather service.

"There's a low-pressure system that'll move through the Great Lakes area Thursday and Friday and bring in the rain," Frey said. "It'll start out as mostly rain Thursday and then transition into snow as cold air wraps around it.

"By Friday, we could see 1-2 inches of snow for Detroit, but a significant amount isn't expected."

The good news, he said, is once the snow is done, the Metro area's weather for the weekend should be "quiet, dry and mostly sunny."
