The streak of warm weather and sunny skies in Metro Detroit is expected to continue through the second half of the week and this weekend, forecasters say.

The high temperature Wednesday is expected to reach the mid-80s with sunshine through the early evening hours.

The overnight low, however, could drop down to the 50s due to a rare summer cold front moving through the region, said Alex Manion, meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

Thursday should be a repeat of Wednesday's weather, with temperatures in the mid-80s, and Friday the mercury will begin to rise.

Manion said highs will be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s Friday through Sunday.

The first chance for rain comes Saturday afternoon.

"It would be isolated to scattered so more of a pop-up scenario," Manion said, adding that the chance for rain would be 30 to 40 percent.

The extended weather forecast is as follows:

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 82.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 84.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 88.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89.

Monday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Partly sunny, with a high near 88.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.
